I'd just like to add, as a Pennsylvania resident, how jealous I am that you may not be happy living in MONTANA, and are debating moving back to COLORADO! That is amazing.
I also have a question regarding altitude training. Although it's on the east coast, this February I'm running my 3rd ultra, and it's between 2,400 and 6,600 feet. I live at approximately 300 feet. Anything specific you reccommend doing to adjust. I once ran in the Mojave Desert at 4,200 feet and there was a noticeable difference in my breathing.erikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00921963362627198218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-451222917425507533.post-52754123045058451532007-11-26T21:10:00.000-07:002007-11-26T21:10:00.000-07:00Nakedrunner,I'm a pretty strong believer in two th...Nakedrunner,

I'm a pretty strong believer in two things: specificity, and doing things that I want to do.

Ultrarunning is RUNNING (and, sometimes, walking), so I spend basically all of my training time running. As you can see, this might not be the best thing to do, because of injuries. I used to do a lot of weight training, especially in high school (I was once able to bench press 185 lbs while weighing 140), but now any strength training is limited to the semi-consistent set of push-ups, crunches, and pull-ups after a run.

Additionally, I run because I like to run, not because I like to stretch, or lift weights, etc. So, I spend basically all of my time running...again, maybe if I took 5% of my time and didn't run and did some stretching/strengthening stuff, I might be able to run more consistently...Antonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11148317903654491236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-451222917425507533.post-37878417135397988472007-11-26T20:03:00.000-07:002007-11-26T20:03:00.000-07:00I have a quick question for you, Tony. Just curious since I am trying to get ready for my first ultra.Mark C. Injury sucks!!! I'm planning one more race next weekend and then rest for a few weeks to let some nagging injuries heal.

Make the move, and head to warmer climes!Andy B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16664127846386455194noreply@blogger.com
