Howdy Tony

When you write barefoot in your logs, can you describe what you mean?

Does it mean you ran that mileage barefoot, or some barefoot?

Why barefoot?

Hey Ted,
When i write "+barefoot" it means that I added on some barefoot running on grass fields at the end of the run...typically 15-30 minutes of just easy running on the grass. There are a couple exceptions. If i just wrote "barefoot" after the mileage without giving any specific course it means that i did the whole run barefoot, typically on a combination of grass, dirt, and pavement in a nearby park.

As for why barefoot, i suspect my reasons are similar to yours. I used to wear orthotics in typcial trainers, but hated how clunky everything was. Over a period of a few months i gradually transitioned down to more minimalist footwear in order to cultivate a more natural footstrike (mid to forefoot instead of heel) and stride and because the lighter footwear just felt right. because most of my runs are on natural surfaces, i figure that i should be able to run in footwear that is closer to how our primitive ancestors were able to run. i do the barefoot running to get a feel for the type of proprioception that is possible so that the barefoot gait carries over into shod running and allows me to wear more minimal shoes.

Excellent blog you have here but I was curious about if you knew of any community forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part of online community where I can get advice from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Appreciate it softtonice | canon support | drivers and software
